the truth comes out

I am a crafting fraudster.

I cannot knit.

There I said it.

I feel better already.

I guess I should go the whole hog and admit I cannot crochet either. I did try crochet last year but the counting killed me. My hours of effort resulted in a small crooked square just large enough to make a blanket for the little girl who lives in the doll house.

I keep seeing lovely creations like these , these , these and these.

If only.........

(gasp) I'm shocked! I learnt 2 years ago... and it was sooo much easier than when I tried to learn before. (mystical tone) when the time is right, the knitting will arrive

aww hun, if/when you move down to Melbourne we'll organize a knitting date and I'll take you through it step by step. It's as easy as pie once you get the basic stitches down pat ;-)

I am with you Ingrid. But my secret is worse because I was a Product Manager for Patons for three years. Deciding what yarns, what colours and even briefing my designers for the knitting patterns.

I did try but my tension was too tight to get the needle back into the next row - laughable really!

LOL I know the basics of knitting but I can't do it very well. Uneven stitches and all.

Knitting is not everyone's cup of tea. That's why they invented Etsy, so you can choose what you want!

I'm a fraud too! Although I've tried knitting and have made a few things and love wool but I really get a bit lost knitting. I have so many unfinished things. Asfor crochet... I would love to try it just for all the gorgeous little amigurumi out there

I don't knit either. I do crochet. My grandmother was the only one in our family that did. So I took it upon myself to learn and then to talk with her about it. I'm glad I did. She passed away a month ago tomorrow.

I do Knifty Knit. Which is totally cheating, but I just don't have any inkling AT ALL to learn how to do it. :o)

So it's ok. :o)

Well I cant tell you all how lovely it is to be surrounded by such a sweet bunch of crafting fraudsters! Who would have known there were so many of us.

I am off to meditate and induce the mystical knitting Gods. Hopefully Leah is right and when the time is right the knitting will arrive. I love it! It will be my new mantra.

Aww I'm flattered :) I've been admiring you girls who are so creative with the sewing machine! Me, I can knit and follow patterns, but I'm not terribly creative I'm afraid.

Knitting just takes practice I guess.. meeting up with other knitters might help you on your way towards the knitting addiction :)

Well I can knit BUT not crochet at all (even tho my mum says it is easy ((not)) And I have so much yarn I'll never knit in a lifetime. Be glad you cannot justify yarn purchases.

Besides you sew so well (not me!)

Oh dont feel like a fraud! You can turn an old table cloth and tea towel into something out of this world - I only buy them wash them and put them in the cupboard! We could always swap talents - I had fun doing it with Novy!

I've outed myself on my blog before too as a crafting fraudster! I didn't realise there was so many of us either! I just wish I could sew like you do :)

Oh, your secret makes me feel so much better - I can knit, but am an absolute flop at crochet!

I have finally learned to knit in my forty first year. How's that for a confession, you now all know how old the Crone is. What helped me learn was a very good book and then a dear friend teaching me some tricks.

I now knit at night when I can't garden :)

Its so easy girl! Take a class, you'll love it! If you lived close by, I would teach you. ;0)

Sigh...me either! Although someone is teaching a class this summer and I'm taking it and WILL learn how to knit - yippee!
